TOP TEN FISH-ON'S
Frank
Rogers, an Outer Banks fishing legend passed away on 10/28/04.
Frank was known to the small boat captains here on the beach as The
All-Star. At 70 years old Frank was still a die-hard
fisherman. You could not get The All-Star to cancel a trip
regardless of how bad the weather was. He would fish under any
conditions. He was saltiest man that ever stepped foot on
my boat. Frank was diagnosed with and had defeated Leukemia
dating back to 1989. You would have never known that he had
it. Frank treated cancer like he did bad weather. He didn't
let it phase him. Frank died of a heart-attack, not cancer.
Chad Lilly, one of Frank's many fishing partners, put it best when he
said that Frank beat cancer with a baseball bat. I had the
pleasure of fishing with Frank most recently during a September
southwest gale. Perfect Frank weather. As always, Frank was
just happy being on the water. As usual he caught fish. One
could only hope to live half the life that Frank did. R.I.P.
